It’s been a long time since my last post – I apologise. A lot has been going on in my life recently, preventing me from doing lots of photography or working on my website(s), Instagram and updates.

The same reason applies to this short post, but the last solar eclipse on 12 August, which was partial in Germany, is a good opportunity to break the stall.
Between 19:20 and 20:37, an amazing spectacle could be seen, despite the clouds, which added a special touch to the pictures. At its peak at 20:13, 89% of the sun was hidden by the moon, creating an incredible light and atmosphere.

The images were taken using two high-quality ND glass filters, which added up to a filter factor of 64,000. Some images were taken as HDR images (three, four and five images respectively). Silver sun filters and glasses for viewing these events have a filter factor of around 100,000 – never look at the sun without them!

Nĭ hăo !

It is China this time – my first trip to the country- and an amazing one to the 3rd biggest city Shenzhen with 17 million residents. Shenzhen is on Chiona mainland just neighbouring Hong Kong.

Despite the size, Shenzhen ist a green and clean city, really surprising to me – so many parks, water, city life … just worth living (if you generally love large cities – I love the visit, but it definitely exceeds my level of size and business ).

Anything that made me worry? Well, my recommendation: Never go there in summer – it is really hot and moist – a combination my body does not work with – the climate is subtropical. Which on the other hand means there is an amazing quality and taste of fruit such as mango, lychee and such – you never will eat those again after import to Europe if you ever had “the real” taste …

As it was a business trip, time was limited for photography (and foolish I am having forgotten my camera strap, I really trained my finger muscles …).

But the vast amount of photo objects is mind-boggling, so the outcome was amazingly large.
I love to discover other countries and cultures without reservations – it is good to create your own experiences! And I was really really lucky having a wonderful Chinese colleague with me to ease up daily life – English is in fact not sufficient in many cases .

Rainbows and mermaids are proof
that imagination and beauty go hand in hand.

Hi there

with this quote of unknown origin this most unusual and intriguing post in a portfolio usually dominated by travel, landscape and nature photography starts.

It was a completely new experience – and one of the most mesmerizing to enter a new domain of photography with an absolutely awesome and beautiful model – at this point thanks so many times to Giuliana – embodying, representing and living Mermaid MariLuna.

Giuliana’s persistent dream of being a mermaid enjoys more and more people, when she performs in adventure pools and water parks in the region.

More easy was the environment of our shooting I had the pleasure to do with MariLuna: Studio conditions and dry. Although the indoor temperatures – powered by the some hundred watts of the studio flashes’ modelling lights – during an anyhow hot summer evening in June were dehydrating and sweaty. Maybe optimal conditions for a mermaid?

Not much more to say – get charmed by a most beautiful woman and dive into a world of fanstasy – Enjoy!

never I had so many visits to my second home than this year.

Again influenced by thoughts of travel cancellations due to Corona, this choice did not only reduce the risks but also boosted my love for the rough Northsea area along the Western coastline of Jutland just another time.

The camera always at my side, I not only renewed the wonderful views on known areas – still with new outlooks, light situations and impressions – but also opened some new locations, mainly more Northern than the core area around the Ringkøbing Fjord.

Be excited to enjoy a whole year of visits with so many pictures from landscapes, lighthouses, harbors, drone images from above, food, locations, nature, events, sights and more.

Hej igen,

another year of vacation – again spent in Denmark which I loved (although the original plans for this year had to be adapted because of Corona regulation …).

The region around the Ringkøbing Fjord and the spit Holmsland Klit – an evergreen for me. And despite so many visits in the region, photography never gets less exiting. It’s because the area with it’s superb light, the coast and sea but also the more calm fjord side always show new faces. Heather, Dunes, Lighthouses, museums, cozy towns, harbors …

Corona paid it’s own tribute – Scandinavia and by that Denmark were flooded with tourists – a situation I regret (but hey, I am tourist as well …). The weather was this time more Danish (some rain and mixed conditions, but also lots of sun and fun).

Time for reading, time for photography (morning, day and night) , time for checking out new attractions for my West Jutland guide, meeting friends (!) and – standing up for sunrise twice this time (yes, it’s so hard to stand up early during vacation I have to admit). I forgot – lots of food, too much to prevent a heavy increase of weight – every portion was worth it though

yes, I made it despite Corona – two weeks of Denmark making me happy again.

The relaxing nature of Jutlands coast line with the rough North Sea and strong winds blowing away any sorrow, stormy weathers … oh wait … two weeks in Agust showed another Denmark as most might suspect (and as I experienced over so many year).

Almost no wind, just a few drops of rain and temperatures often well above 25°C – an almost mediterranean behaviour, kind of mutation of the country so well known to me.

But – take is a it comes, no regrets . It was wonderful, some impressions captured in images will hopefully provide some of the good vibrations I was able to experience again.

Lost Places have a magical atrraction to me. Getting into such places with their memories, buildings, equipment and the shadows of past times makes me shivers – and taking out the camera …

One word beforehand: Many urban explorers take their adventure from illegally entering such places. I don’t (maybe I am too fearful). But really comprehending and grasping such a site takes time, so from a photography point of view it is much better (real urbexers might say easier ) to just  concentrate on the site and it’s depicition without looking behind your shoulders every now and then.

This location in fact are two: An old and famous porcelain manufacturing site (which is really huge although only two of the four stores can be entered) and a much smaller abandonded gingerbread factory (the company still exists, but has moved and extended their business). Both can be rented in one run and are located in Arzberg (Upper Franconia) not too far from where I live.

Denmark is my second home. Visiting it for over 40 years now left so many deep impressions …

Let me share some of the visual snapshots of the recent years. I hope I can give you some sensations of the wonderful area around the Ringkøbing Fjord at Jutlands West Coast, the Holmsland Klit spit, the North Sea, the harbors, small towns and everything making me come back almost every year, being a North Sea junkie in fact.

But be careful – it’s really many images this time, a collection over the recent 3 years, with nature, food, artwork, details, lighthouses, sealines, summer houses, shops and fjord views … and so much more. And it’s addictive with a high risk of getting infected yourself.

our first trip to the Perigord in the South-West of France in the region of Aquitaine in August 2018.
This gallery shows a selection of the travel images taken in two weeks in a gorgeous, moderately touristic area with vast amounts of sites to visit.

If you like old castles, awesome villages and towns in a originality seldomly seen, der Dordogne valley, walnut groves and cozy summer houses you should consider a trip to the Perigord.

Hi there,

this gallery shows a selection of the travel images of our short 2018 trip to the Lake of Garda in the Northern parts of Italy.
As we had visited Lake Garda many times before, there a not so many images, and even less with typical “travel character”. For that you find a set of pictures from Campo di Brenzone – an abandoned mountain village lost place actually.
